Waleska, Ga. (Apr. 9, 2011) --- The Milligan College baseball team dropped two games to AAC foe Reinhardt University on Saturday afternoon in Waleska, Ga. The Buffaloes fell 7-3 in the first game, and saw a late rally fall short as they fell 8-5.
The first game saw Milligan tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the third when
Cory Hilton (Johnson City, Tenn.) crossed the plate. Reinhardt scored the next five runs, and the Buffaloes were unable to respond in the game's final innings.
Bart Roark (Mountain City, Tenn.) led the way the plate with a 2-for-3 performance with two RBIs. Hilton ended the game 3-for-4.
On the mound,
Jason Trivett (Bristol, Tenn.) got the start and was handed the loss in six innings of work. Trivett gave up seven runs on 10 hits, and struck out five Eagle batters.
In the second game,
Dustin Ford (Jonesborough, Tenn.) put Milligan on the board first with a solo homerun in the top of the first, and Hilton added a run to give the Buffaloes a 2-0 lead. However, Reinhardt responded with two runs, and built up an 8-2 lead after six innings. Ford and Roark started a Milligan comeback in the seventh with a homerun apiece, but the Buffaloes were unable to close the gap any further.
Ford was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while
Kyle Kolat (South Bend, Ind.) was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
LA Owens (Dillon, S.C.) was handed the loss for the Buffaloes. In three innings of work, Owens allowed six runs on six hits.
Tyler Walker (Anaheim Hills, Calif.) pitched two innings of relief and gave up two runs on three hits.
With the pair of losses, Milligan falls to 18-22 overall and 8-7 in conference play.
The Buffaloes return to action on Tuesday, April 12, when they host Brevard College. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
