Bluefield, Va. (Jan. 31, 2012) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team was unable to hold off a Bluefield second half charge as they fell 95-86 to the Rams on Tuesday night in AAC action in Bluefield, Va.

  In the first half, both teams traded shots to open the game before a
Tyler DeVault (Kingsport, Tenn.) jumper gave the Buffaloes a 16-13 lead six minutes in. After the teams traded shots, freshman
Mickey Woods (Port Arthur, Tex.) hit a runner and
Kyle Grisby (Charlotte, N.C.) drained a 3-pointer to spark a 9-0 Milligan run as the Buffaloes took a 27-18 lead midway through the frame.

  Milligan maintained their advantage for most of the half before a late Bluefield run cut the lead to four points. Woods hit a jumper in the final minute to send Milligan into halftime with a 45-38 lead.

  The Rams came out of the gate strong to start the second half as they quickly erased the Buffaloes lead.
Torian Sitton (Hendersonville, N.C.) put the Buffaloes back in front. Bluefield, however, responded as they jumped out to a five point lead at the midpoint of the half. Milligan kept trying to cut into their deficit, but was unable to get any closer.

  Grisby lead the way with 27 points, while Wood tallied up 21 points. DeVault finished the game with 15 points.
Bryant Edwards (Tabor City, N.C.) had nine points. Bluefield was paced by Bryon Carpenter's 28 points, 20 of which came in the second half.

  As a team, Milligan was 28-of-51 (55%) from the floor and 9-of-17 (53%) from behind the 3-point line. Bluefield was 29-of-58 (50%) from the field and 7-of-22 (32%) from behind the arc.

  With the loss, Milligan falls to 8-13 overall and 4-6 in AAC action.

  The Buffaloes return to Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Thursday, Feb. 2, when they kick off a two-game homestand against Reinhardt University. Game time against the Eagles is slated for 7:30 p.m.ÂÂ
