Milligan women's soccer falls in regular season finale

Milligan College, Tenn. (Oct. 27, 2012) --- The Milligan College women's soccer team came short in their regular season finale as they fell 1-0 to Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Reinhardt University on Saturday at Anglin Field.
 
   The Buffaloes were unable to capitalize on early opportunities by Teagan Wood (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Lindsey Ogle (Morristown, Tenn.), and Grace Shawley (Mineral Springs, N.C.) saw a shot saved by the Reinhardt keeper. In the closing minutes of the first half, Krista Barikos found the goal as she gave the Lady Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute.
 
   Milligan continued to fight as Jacklyn Orange (Bagdad, Ky.) was unable to score on early opportunities in the second half. Wood saw a shot in 67th minute hit the crossbar. The Buffaloes continued to push the ball and outshot the Lady Eagles 14-2 in the period, but they were unable to force overtime.
 
   Defensively, Lauren McInturff (Kingsport, Tenn.) tallied two saves in the match.
 
   With the loss, the Buffaloes finish the regular season with a 9-6-1 overall record and wrap up AAC play with a 6-2-1 mark.
 
   The Buffaloes will begin the 2012 AAC women's soccer tournament on Saturday, Nov. 2, with a quarterfinal matchup at Anglin Field. The bracket and seeds will be announced early next week.
