Milligan College, Tenn. (Nov. 13, 2012) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team fell 61-38 to former AAC foe UVA-Wise on Tuesday night inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

Jamiee Hill (Johnson City, Tenn.) and
Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) opened the scoring for Milligan with baskets in the opening minutes. After the Lady Cavaliers went on a 9-0 run to take the lead, the Buffaloes responded with a seven point run of their own to take an 11-9 lead five minutes into the game.

  Both teams were unable to keep up the scoring pace as UVA-Wise maintained a 15-11 lead midway through the half.
Johneshia Good (Johnson City, Tenn.) and
Tracy Hardiman (Maryville, Tenn.) put Milligan back into a 16-15 lead with six minutes to play, but the Lady Cavaliers ended the half on a 14-0 run to take a 29-16 lead into the half.

  In the first half, Hardiman and Kelly led the way with five and four points, respectively. As a team, Milligan was 6-of-29 (21%) from the field and 1-of-14 (7%) from behind the arc. UVA-Wise ended the half 13-of-31 (42%) from the floor and 2-of-4 (50%) from the 3-point line.ÂÂ

  After the Lady Cavaliers opened the second half on a 6-0 run,
Dorian Freeman (Augusta, Ga.) drained a 3-pointer for Milligan to stop the UVA-Wise run. However, the Buffaloes were unable to close the gap any further as they trailed 44-19 eight minutes into the half.

  Milligan continued to fight as Hill scored four of the next six points as the Buffaloes slowly cut into the lead. Freshman
Callie Cox (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) hit a 3-pointer and Good scored six straight points, but the Buffaloes were unable to close the gap any further before the end of the game.

  Good led the way with nine points and five rebounds, while Hill added eight points. Hardiman ended the night with seven points. Freeman recorded seven rebounds and five points. For UVA-Wise, Chelsea Cluesman had 21 points.

  As a team, the Buffaloes finished the game 16-of-57 (28%) from the floor and 3-of-28 (11%) from the 3-point line. The Lady Cavaliers finished the night 24-of-59 (41%) from the field and 2-of-7 (29%) from behind the arc.

  With the loss, Milligan falls to 3-2 on the season.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Friday, Nov. 16, as they host the Milligan Classic. Milligan will open the two-day event against the University of Virginia at Lynchburg at 7:30 p.m., inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.ÂÂ
