Buffaloes women's basketball celebrates senior day with win

Milligan College, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2012) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team picked up their second consecutive win over as they cruised celebrated senior day with a 77-47 win over Point University inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
 
   Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) opened up the game with two 3-pointers to give Milligan an early 6-0 lead. The Buffaloes held a 14-8 advantage with 12 minutes remaining in the half. Milligan used a 20-3 run over the next five minutes to run out to a 37-13 lead, and then took a 45-19 lead into half.
 
   Kelly led the team at the half with 22 points, and Johneshia Good (Johnson City, Tenn.) went into the half with 12 points. As a team, Milligan was 18-of-33 (55%) from the floor and 7-of-16 (44%) from behind the arc. Point University was 6-of-29 (21%) from the floor and 0-of-5 from the 3-point line.
 
   With just under 15 minutes left in the second half, Kelly extended the Milligan lead past a 30-point lead to 56-25 with a 3-pointer. The Buffaloes kept the pressure on to keep the Skyhawks at bay to take the victory.
 
   Kelly led the team with 24 points, and senior Ashlee Price (Rogersville, Tenn.) scored 14 points. Senior Alisha Mainer (Flag Pond, Tenn.) finished with 13 points and Good had 12 points.
  
   Milligan ended the game 30-of-70 (43%) from the floor and 12-of-31 (39%) from the 3-point line. Point University went 17-of-62 (27%) from the floor and 1-of- 7 (8%) from behind the arc.
 
   With this win, the Buffaloes improve to 9-9 in conference play and 17-13 overall.
 
   The Buffaloes will begin the AAC tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 22, as the sixth seed. Milligan will be on the road for their first road game, and the opponent will be determined later in the weekend. Game time for all AAC tournament games will be at 7 p.m.
