Buffaloes men's basketball sees season end in AAC quarterfinals

Waleska, Ga. (Feb. 21, 2012) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team saw their season come to a close on Tuesday night as their upset bid of second-seeded Reinhardt University fell short as the Buffaloes fell 63-54 to the Eagles in the AAC quarterfinals in Waleska, Ga.
 
   Reinhardt opened the game on a 12-2 run as they led by that margin eight minutes into the game. Junior Tyler DeVault (Kingsport, Tenn.) and senior Marshall Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) to help the Buffaloes pull within two as they trailed 13-12 with 7:42 left in the half.
 
   The Eagles extended their lead, but senior Cordero Seymour (Inagua, Bahamas) hit a jumper with 4:54 that pulled Milligan back within five points. The teams traded shots to end the half as Reinhardt took a 27-22 lead at the break.
 
   Hardy led the Buffaloes with six points. As a team, Milligan was 8-of-27 (30%) from the field and 0-for-2 from the 3-point line. Reinhardt ended the half 7-of-23 (30%) from the floor and 4-of-13 (31%) from the behind the arc.
 
   Hardy and DeVault hit baskets to open the second half as Milligan cut the gap to 27-26 with 15:42 left in the game, but the Eagles bounced back as they regained an eight point lead. Torian Sitton (Hendersonville, N.C.) basket with 8:58 led put the Buffaloes down 42-39.
 
   The teams traded shots over the next five minutes as Reinhardt held onto a 5-47 lead with just under three minutes to play. However, Milligan was unable to respond to a Reinhardt run before time expired.
 
   Sitton paced Milligan with 17 points. Hardy had 13 points, while DeVault ended the game with 10 points. Seymour recorded nine points in his final game in a Milligan uniform.
 
   As a team, Milligan was 20-of-51 (39%) from the field and 0-of-7 from behind the arc. The Eagles finished the game 18-of-46 (39%) from the floor and 8-of-24 (37%) from the 3-point line.
 
   The Buffaloes end the season with a 10-17 overall record. Milligan finished seventh in the AAC with a 6-10 record. The Buffaloes will lose Bryant Edwards (Tabor City, N.C.), Hardy and Seymour to graduation.
