Oakland City, Ind. (March 14, 2012) --- The Milligan College men's basketball team wrapped up the 2012 Christian College Invitational with a 97-74 victory over Ecclesia College on Wednesday afternoon in Oakland City, Ind.

  The teams traded baskets to open the game, but
Bryant Edwards (Tabor City, N.C.) recorded a layup to give Milligan a 14-7 lead four minutes into the game. The Royals went on a 7-0 run to close the gap. However, the Buffaloes responded with 3-pointers from
Zac Cantadore (Charlotte, N.C.) and
Mickey Woods (Port Arthur, Tex.) to take a 30-18 lead with 7:47 left in the half, and Milligan slowly added to their lead to take a 48-30 lead into half.

  An Edwards trey opened the second half for the Buffaloes as they jumped out to a 21-point lead. Milligan maintained that advantage as they led 61-40 five minutes into the game. The Royals cut the gap to 10 points, but a
Torian Sitton (Hendersonville, N.C.) stopped the run. Milligan kept the Royals at bay for the remainder of the half, and held Ecclesia scoreless for the final four minutes.

  Edwards led the way with 29 points, while
Marshall Hardy (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded his second straight double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Sitton and Woods ended the game with 17 and 16 points, respectively.

  As a team, Milligan was 33-of-59 (56%) from the field and 13-of-24 (54%) from the 3-point line. Ecclesia ended the game 23-of-56 (41%) from the floor and 8-of-20 (40%) from the 3-point line.

  With the win, Milligan ends the season 11-19 overall.ÂÂ
