Bluefield, Va. (March 19, 2012) --- The Milligan College baseball team split a pair of AAC games with Bluefield (Va.) College on Monday afternoon in Bluefield, Va. The Buffaloes were unable to hold off a late rally as they fell 9-8 in the first game, which was resumed after being stopped due to rain on Saturday, and then Milligan pulled away late for a 7-3 victory in the second game.
 
   In the first game, Milligan jumped out to an early lead. However, Bluefield battled back, and took the win on a infield single in the bottom of the seventh.
 
   At the plate, 
Wes Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) went 2-for-3 with a RBI. 
Kyle Kolat (South Bend, Ind.) finished the game 3-for-4 with a homerun and two runs scored. On the mound, 
Derek Long (Jackson, Tenn.) was handed the loss as he allowed three hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts.
 
   The second game saw Milligan pull away late with a solo homerun from 
Brandon Malone (Kingsport, Tenn.) and a two-run shot from 
Tyree Jefferies (Jackson, Tenn.). The Rams got the bases loaded late in the game, but 
Jake Howell (Johnson City, Tenn.) came in as a relief pitcher and forced a ground ball and strikeout to preserve the Milligan win.
 
   Jones was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI to pace Milligan at the plate. Jefferies finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. 
Sean Robinson (Knoxville, Tenn.) picked up the win on the mound as he allowed one run on four hits with three strikeouts in just over seven innings of work. Howell picked up the save.
 
   Milligan moves to 3-5 in conference play and 15-15 overall.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action on Thursday, March 22, when they travel to NCAA D-III Roanoke College. First pitch for the nine-inning game is slated for 7 p.m.
