Milligan College, Tenn. (Aug. 28, 2012) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team saw
Chris Ochieng (Nairobi, Kenya) score three goals to lead the Buffaloes past St. Andrews University 7-2 in their Appalachian Athletic Conference opener on Tuesday at Anglin Field.

  Ochieng opened the scoring in the 17
th minute when he knocked the ball past the Knight's keeper. Five minutes later saw the senior score off an assist from
Nahom Tekle (Louisville, Ky.) to give Milligan a 2-0 lead at the break.

  Ochieng completed his hat trick four minutes into the second half as he slipped behind the St. Andrews defense for his third goal of the game. In the 54
th minute, Milligan saw
Paidwa Mushayamunda (Johnson City, Tenn.) score his first goal of the season, and
Rusty Baxter (Knoxville, Tenn.) scored goals in the 55
th minute and the 57
th minute to extend the Milligan lead.
Jonathon Colson (Johnson City, Tenn.) wrapped up the scoring for Milligan in the 70
th minute.

Dan Ball (Chatham, England) recorded one save in 50 minutes of play.

  “We are certain happy with the result, especially after being very disappointed after Saturday's loss,” Head Coach
Adam Laney said. “We are happy to come out and to win a game convincingly. We still have some work to do, but it is a good result to start the conference.”

  With the win, Milligan improves to 1-1 on the season and begin AAC play 1-0.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Friday, Aug. 31, when they travel to the Union University Classic in Jackson, Tenn. Milligan will open the tournament against Missouri Baptist at 3 p.m. ÂÂ
