Jackson, Tenn. (Aug. 31, 2012) --- The Milligan College team scored three goals in the first 20 minutes and then held on to take a 3-1 victory over Missouri Baptist on Friday in the Union University Soccer Classic in Jackson, Tenn.

  Milligan struck quickly in the opening minutes as
Nimely Robertson (Liberia) found the net in the fifth minute. The Buffaloes added another goal in just two minutes as
Chris Ochieng (Nairobi, Kenya) scored off an assist from
Rusty Baxter (Knoxville, Tenn.) in the seventh minute.

Nahom Tekle (Ethopia) gave Milligan a 3-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the 21
st minute. The Buffaloes were unable to widen their lead in the remainder of the half as they lead 3-0 at the half.

  In the second half, the Spartans scored in the 50
th minute when Denny Taylor found the net. However, that was the only goal that Milligan would allow the remainder of the game.

  With the win, Milligan improves to 2-1 overall.

  The Buffaloes return to action on the second day of the Union University Soccer Classic on Saturday, Sept. 1, when they square off against Oauchita Baptist. Match time in Jackson, Tenn., is slated for 3 p.m.
