Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 11, 2012) --- The Milligan College volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory over Union College in Appalachian Athletic Conference action on Tuesday evening inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

  The Buffaloes used a late run to open the match with a 25-23 set victory. In the second set, Union jumped out to an early lead, but Milligan battled back to capture the set by a score of 25-23. The Lady Bulldogs won the third set 25-22. However, Milligan pulled away in the final points to win the decisive fourth set 25-23.

Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) led the way with a double-double as she recorded 16 kills and 12 digs.
Katelin Henson (Kingsport, Tenn.) tallied up a team high 21 digs, whileÂÂ
Kaitlyn Qualls (Colorado Springs, Colo.)
 had 17 digs.
Rachel Renville (Broomfield, Colo.) and
Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) had eight kills apiece, while
Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) had 41 assists. Freshman
Emilee Linkous (Morristown, Tenn.) had two solo blocks.

  “I am super excited about the way we fought and battled back tonight,” Head Coach
Doneva Bays said. “We have been very consistent about fighting and not giving up, and I am extremely proud of that tonight. We didn't play our best volleyball, but we played well enough to get the win.”

  With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 2-0 in AAC action and 6-5 overall.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Thursday, Sept. 13, when they host AAC foe Montreat College. Match time is slated for 6:30 p.m., inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. ÂÂ
