Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Ochieng lifts Milligan past King

Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 8, 2012) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team picked up a thrilling 2-1 victory when Chris Ochieng (Nairobi, Kenya) scored in the closing stages of the game to lift the Buffaloes past former AAC foe King College on a rainy Saturday evening at Anglin Field. It was the fifth straight victory over the Tornado for the Buffaloes.

The Tornado opened the game quickly when Joshua Feen scored in the second minute of the game to take an early lead. Milligan responded in the 12th minute when Nimely Robertson (Liberia) evened the game with a goal of his own. Despite a physical battle, neither team could score before the break as the game remained tied at one goal apiece.

The intensity of the game picked up in the second half as the Buffaloes kept pushing the ball up the field. Milligan nearly scored with 24 minutes on a header, but the King keeper nabbed the ball. However, Nahom Tekle (Louisville, Ky.) found Ochieng in the box, and Ochieng scored on a header in the 73rd minute to put the Buffaloes ahead. In the final 15 minutes, the Milligan defense kept the Tornado at bay to preserve the victory.

Defensively, Dan Ball (Chatham, England) recorded three saves. The Buffaloes recorded 20 shots on goal, while holding King to four shots on goal.

With the win, Milligan improves to 3-2 overall.

The Buffaloes return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 11, when they host AAC foe Montreat College. Match time is slated for 7 p.m., at Anglin Field.
