Buffaloes volleyball sweeps TWC in AAC opener

Athens, Tenn. (Sept. 8, 2012) --- The Milligan College volleyball team picked up a 3-0 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan in their first Appalachian Athletic Conference opener on Saturday in Athens, Tenn.
 
   The Buffaloes set the tone early in the contest and never looked back as they took the first set 25-9. In the second set, Milligan continued to control the match as they won the set by a score of 25-15. The Buffaloes secured the 3-0 sweep in the decisive third set by a score of 25-15.
 
   Holly English (Kingsport, Tenn.) recorded 10 kills, while Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) tallied up nine kills. Kaitlyn Qualls (Broomfield, Colo.) had 10 digs. Senior Chelsea Spivey (Gate City, Va.) had 28 assists in the match, while Katelin Henson (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Jessica Davenport (Cleveland, Tenn.) recorded two service aces apiece.
 
   With the win, Milligan improves to 5-5 overall and starts the AAC play 1-0.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 11, when they open a four game home stand when they host AAC rival Union (Ky.) College. Match time inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse is slated for 6:30 p.m.
