No. 22 Milligan women's basketball rolls past Reinhardt

Waleska, Ga. (Jan. 31, 2013) --- The No. 22 Milligan College women's basketball team jumped out early and never looked back as they rolled to a 78-62 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory over Reinhardt University on Thursday night in Waleska, Ga.
 
   The Buffaloes jumped out to an early 8-0 lead with five straight points from Dorian Freeman (Augusta, Ga.) and a 3-pointer from Johneshia Good (Johnson City, Tenn.). The Lady Eagles trimmed the Milligan lead to four points, but the Buffaloes responded as buckets from Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Good gave Milligan a double-digit lead seven minutes into the game.
 
   Milligan maintained the advantage over the next six minutes until Reinhardt pulled back within seven points with six minutes left. However, Jamiee Hill (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Good hit buckets to extend the Milligan lead, and the Buffaloes held a 33-20 lead at the half.
 
   The Buffaloes finished the half 11-of-28 (39%) from the field and 6-of-12 (50%) from the 3-point line, while Reinhardt ended the period 8-of-28 (29%) from the floor and were 0-of-6 from behind the arc.
 
   Good and Kelly opened the scoring for the Buffaloes as Milligan held a 42-28 lead five minutes into the half. The Buffaloes continued to maintain their advantage until Reinhardt pulled back within nine points, but Tracy Hardiman (Maryville, Tenn.) drained a 3-pointer to extend the lead back 12 points with seven minutes left.
 
   After the Lady Eagles trimmed the lead to eight points with just over two minutes to play, Freeman and Good each hit a pair of free throws to put the game out of reach.
 
   Good led the way with 25 points, while Freeman finished with 16 points. Kelly and Hill ended with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Hill also had a team high 10 rebounds.
 
   As a team, the Buffaloes ended the game 23-of-52 (44%) from the field and 9-of-20 (45%) from behind the arc.  Reinhardt was 24-of-64 (38%) from the floor and 4-of-13 (31%) from behind the 3-point line.
 
   With the win, Milligan improves to 12-1 in AAC action and 19-7 overall, while Reinhardt falls to 13-12 overall and 8-5 in conference play.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Feb. 2, as they travel to Bryan College for an AAC battle. Game time in Dayton, Tenn., is slated for 2 p.m.
