Milligan volleyball unable to find ground in weekend tournament

Columbia, KY (Oct. 5, 2013) â€" The Milligan College lady Buffaloes dropped two games in Saturday's tri-match against Lindsey Wilson College and Northwestern Ohio.
 
The Buffaloes fell 3-0 in their bout with Lindsey Wilson College. Milligan found it difficult to rally a comeback after tough losses in the first two sets 25-13 and 25-15. Despite Jessica Davenport (Cleveland, Tenn.) producing 15 assists, Lindsey Wilson combined for a total of 38 kills to give Milligan the loss 25-14.
 
In the Buffaloes second game against Northwestern Ohio, Milligan dropped the first two games 25-17 and 25-12. The third set showed some promise when Milligan went on a 4-0 streak putting the Buffaloes ahead 17-14. However, late in the game a Northwestern kill by Chanel Cantere and a Milligan error gave the Buffaloes the loss 27-25.
 
For the day, Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) and Samantha Bruinius (Tinley Park, IL.) recorded 17 and 13 kills respectively while Jessica Davenport (Cleveland, Tenn.) gave 38 assists. Defensively, Kaitlyn Round (Billings, MT.) had 20 digs.
 
Saturday's losses put Milligan's record at 7-17 overall.
 
The Buffaloes return to action Thursday, October 10 against AAC foe, Point University. Match time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
