Laurinburg, N.C. (Nov. 21, 2013) - The Milligan College men's basketball team took a decisive victory over AAC rival St. Andrews University Thursday night 89-50.
ÂÂ
The Buffaloes played a competitive first half seeing the teams only separated by four points at the buzzard. Milligan shot well from the field during the first half making 12 of their 23 shots as opposed to the Knights' 10 of 22. The teams seemed evenly matched going into the break.
ÂÂ
The second half proved to be a different performance entirely seeing Milligan to a commanding lead early after the start of the second half. Despite an attacking St. Andrews team, Milligan's defense would cause some key turnovers shifting the momentum permanently into the Buffaloes' favor. Milligan would lead for the remainder of the game extending their lead to an impressive 39 points and taking the win 89-50.
ÂÂ
The Buffaloes would see four different players earn double digits in points for the game. Senior
Torian Sitton (Hendersonville, N.C.) and
Cartree Pettis (Oveido, Fla.) both scored 12 points followed by
Corey Hendren (Lexington, S.C.) with 11 and
Mike Woods Jr. (Swannanoa, N.C.) with 10 points.
ÂÂ
With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 6-1 overall with a 1-1 conference record.
ÂÂ
The Buffaloes will take on the Skyhawks of Point University for their next game which will take place inside the Steve Lacy Field House Saturday, Nov. 23, at 4 p.m.
