Milligan women's basketball cruises by Point

West Point, Ga. (Feb. 16, 2013) --- The Milligan College women's basketball team used an early run to pull away and cruise to a 95-64 victory over Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Point University in the regular season finale on Saturday in West Point, Ga.
 
   The Buffaloes opened the game on a 21-4 run and led by as many as 32 points before taking a 53-24 lead into the half. Chelsey Weddle (Hampton, Tenn.) led the way at the half with 17 points.
 
   As a team, the Buffaloes were 21-of-35 (60%) from the field and 6-of-15 (40%) from behind the arc. Point finished the half 8-of-38 (21%) from the floor and 2-of-7 (29%) from behind the 3-point line.
 
   Milligan continued to control the game in the second half as they maintained at least a 30 point advantage for a majority of the half.
 
   Weddle finished with a game high 23 points, while senior Dorian Freeman (Augusta, Ga.) recorded 22 points in the game. Jamiee Hill (Johnson City, Tenn.) finished with 21 points, while Callie Cox (Knoxville, Tenn.) scored 10 points.
 
   The Buffaloes finished the game 31-of-67 (46%) from the field and 10-of-22 (46%) from the 3-point line. Milligan limited Point to just 25-of-75 (33%) shooting and 5-of-20 (25%) from behind the arc.
 
   Milligan finishes the season 22-8 overall and 16-2 in AAC action.  
 
   The AAC regular season champion Buffaloes will begin the 2013 AAC Conference tournament on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 8:30 a.m., in the MeadowView Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
