Harrogate, Tenn. (Feb. 19, 2013) --- The Milligan College softball team dropped two games to NCAA D-II Lincoln Memorial University on Tuesday afternoon in Harrogate, Tenn. The Buffaloes fell 10-0 in the opening game of the day, and Milligan was unable to hold off a late rally as they fell 8-2 in the second game.

  In the first game, freshman
Jessica Connaster (Maryville, Tenn.) moved into scoring position in the first inning, but the Buffaloes were unable to bring the run home. After the Lady Railsplitters jumped out to an 8-0 lead in three innings of play,
Krista Lambdin (Knoxville, Tenn.) recorded a double in the fourth and
Maleah Wolfenbarger (Knoxville, Tenn.) got on base with a single in the fifth inning, but the Buffaloes were unable to drive a run across home plate.

Emily Biggs (Kingsport, Tenn.) finished the game 1-for-2, while Wolfenbarger was 1-for-1. In the pitching circle,
Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) was handed the loss as she allowed five earned runs on five hits.

  The Buffaloes opened the scoring in the second game when J. Connatser scored on a
Catherine McGinnis (Knoxville, Tenn.) single in the top of the first inning, but LMU countered with a run of their own in the home side of the inning. After the second and third innings were scoreless,
Abbey Hughes (Rogersville, Tenn.) gave the Buffaloes a 2-1 lead after she scored on a Biggs single. However, LMU scored six runs in the bottom half of the inning to pull away and take the victory.

  McGinnis finished the game 2-for-4 with a RBI, while Biggs was 1-for-1 with a RBI.
Megan Nicol (Surry, British Columbia) was handed the loss as she allowed five earned runs on seven hits.

  The Buffaloes fall to 1-7 on the season.

  Milligan returns to action on Friday, Feb. 22, as they open play at the Midsouth Arctic Blast in Decatur, Ala., against Belhaven University. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.ÂÂ
