Central, S.C. (Feb. 20, 2013) --- The Milligan College baseball team was unable to keep a seven game winning streak alive on Wednesday as they fell 15-12 to Southern Wesleyan University in a nonconference game in Central, S.C.   ÂÂ

Luke Kirk (Gate City, Va.) opened the game with a double, and
Corey McPherson (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Kirk crossed home plate to give Milligan a 2-0 lead after one inning of play. The Buffaloes scored three runs in the second inning, and extended their lead to 10-3 with a five run third inning. However, Southern Wesleyan scored eight unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take an 11-10 lead.

  During the top of the sixth inning,
Tyree Jeffries (Jackson, Tenn.) used a double to drive in
Nathan Millsap (Kingsport, Tenn.) to tie the game, but Milligan was unable to answer four Warrior runs in the ninth and final inning of the game.

  Kirk led the way at the plate as he finished the game 3-for-6 with two RBIs, while McPherson was 2-for-4 with a RBI. On the mound,
Tyler Wilson (Johnson City, Tenn.) picked up a no-decision in three innings of work as he allowed five runs on four hits.
Tanner Strange (Newport, Tenn.) was handed the loss as he allowed two runs on three hits.

  Milligan falls to 7-2 on the season.

  The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Feb. 23, as they host Covenant College for a nonconference doubleheader. Game time at Anglin Field is set for 1 p.m.
