Milligan softball falls to Belhaven

Decatur, Ala. (Feb. 22, 2013) --- The Milligan College softball team came up short in their opening game of the Shorter Invitational as they fell 11-1 to Belhaven University on Friday night in Decatur, Ala.
 
   After Belhaven scored a run in the top of the first, the Buffaloes evened the score when Catherine McGinnis (Knoxville, Tenn.) scored off a Chancli Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) single. However, the Lady Blazers regained the lead, and quickly pulled away from the Buffaloes.
 
   Jessica Connatser (Maryville, Tenn.) and Emily Biggs (Kingsport, Tenn.) went 1-for-3 at the plate, while Lacy Huskins (Elizabethton, Tenn.), C. Connatser and McGinnis all recorded single hits.
 
   In the pitching circle, C. Connatser was handed the loss as she allowed one earned run on four hits in four innings of work.
 
   The Buffaloes fall to 1-8 on the season.
 
   Milligan returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 23, on the second day of the Shorter Invitational. The Buffaloes will face Brewton-Parker at 12 p.m., and Martin Methodist at 2 p.m.
