Reinhardt, Ga. (March 2, 2013) --- The Milligan College baseball team wrapped up their Appalachian Athletic Conference opening series as they edged Reinhardt University 3-1 in a nine-inning game in Waleska, Ga., on Saturday.

  Neither team could get on the board until Milligan put two runs on the board in the seventh. The Buffaloes added another run in the top of the ninth, and then limited an Eagle rally to just one run in the bottom of the ninth.

Brandon Malone (Maryville, Tenn.),
Sam Tarleton (Chuckey, Tenn.) and
Nick Loughry (Kingsport, Tenn.) were all 2-for-4 at the plate. Loughry added an RBI for the Buffaloes, while
Blake Buck (Maryville, Tenn.), Malone and Tarleton each scored a run.

  On the mound,
Jake Watts (Boone, N.C.) picked up the win. In six innings of work, Watts allowed just three hits with six strikeouts.
Justin Johnson (North Wilkesboro, N.C.) picked up a save as he allowed just one run on five hits.

  The Buffaloes improve to 2-1 in conference play and 9-7 overall.

  Milligan returns to action on Wednesday, March 6, as they travel to Johnson University for a nonconference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., in Knoxville, Tenn.
