Buffaloes tennis sweeps AAC foe Tennessee Wesleyan

Athens, Tenn. (April 7, 2013) --- The Milligan College tennis team's recorded a pair of victories over Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Tennessee Wesleyan on Sunday in Athens, Tenn. The Milligan men recorded a 7-2 victory, while the women captured a 9-0 win.
 
   Senior Andy Pullen (Kingsport, Tenn.) led the way for the Milligan men as he picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Alex Laguza in No. 1 singles. Pullen was joined by Colin Bumann (Abilene, Tex.) in No. 2 doubles as they defeated David Escabosa and Rodney Pineros 8-4. Bumann also won his singles match as he defeated Gallardo 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.
 
   Caleb Fridell (Ooltewah, Tenn.) defeated Gad Azulay 6-4, 6-4, while Jackson Lenior (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and senior Mickey Brown (Kingsport, Tenn.) also picked up single wins. Milligan also won at No. 1 doubles as Sebastian Jonsson (Lysekill, Sweden) and Lenior defeated Bret Wado and Laquza 8-2.
 
   On the women's side, the duo of Grace Sarver (Bland, Va.) and Sarah Rainwater (Knoxville, Tenn.) defeated Ekaterina Vezhenkova and Tatum McMahon 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. Rachel Hodas (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Kayla Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) edged Beatriz Signori and Jayden Morrison 9-8, while Ahmee Kelly (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Hallie Winfrey (Fayetteville, Ga.) defeated Kristen Camp and Bridget Malone 8-6.
 
   Sarver paced the way with a victory in No. 1 singles as she defeated Vezhenkova 6-0, 6-2, and Hodas won at No. 2 singles over Signori 6-1, 7-5. Rainwater, K. Kelly, A. Kelly and Winfrey all captured their singles matches in straight sets.
 
   The Milligan women improve to 14-2 overall, while the men improve to 6-9 overall.  
 
   Both squads return to action on Wednesday, April 10, as they host Lincoln Memorial University in nonconference action. Match time at the Mathes Tennis Center is set for 2:30 p.m.
