Daytona Beach, Fla. (Aug. 23, 2013) --- The Milligan College volleyball team fell 3-0 in the 2013 season opener to No. 10 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Friday night inside the ICI Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Buffaloes were unable to rally from an early deficit in the first set as they fell 25-10. Milligan kept pace early on in the second set, but ERAU pulled away to take a 25-13 lead. In the decisive third set, the Buffaloes were unable to rally from an early Lady Eagles run as they fell 25-13.
Emilee Linkous (Morristown, Tenn.) recorded four kills and a solo block while
Kaitlyn Round (Billings, Mont.) had a team high eight digs.
Jessica Davenport (Cleveland, Tenn.) and freshman
Samantha Bruinius (Chicago, Ill.) had four digs apiece.
Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.),
Bailey Thomas (Seymour, Tenn.) and Bruinius had three kills apiece. Davenport finished the match with 13 assists.
The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Aug. 24, as they compete in a tri-match with Webber University and Ava Maria University. Action in Babson Park, Fla., is set to begin at 11 a.m.
