Buffaloes men's tennis rolls past UVA-Wise

Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 10, 2012) --- The Milligan College men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 victory over UVA-Wise in their 2013-14 season opener on Tuesday at the Mathes Tennis Center.
 
   The Buffaloes took an early 3-0 advantage with a sweep of doubles action. At No. 1 doubles, the duo of Colin Bumann (Abilene, Tex.) and Seth Buckmaster (Bluff City, Tenn.) defeated Vladyslav Akimenko and Tanner Crowder by a score of 8-4.
 
   Jackson Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Fernando Gonzalez (Santiago, Chile) picked up an 8-3 victory over Marc Huff and Christopher Arimstead at No. 2 doubles, while Caleb Friddell (Ooltewah, Tenn.) and Alex Delozier (Pigeon Forge, Tenn.) defeated Juhan Washington and Oleg Kopychenko 8-4.
 
   In singles action, Gonzalez defeated Huff 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Friddell won at No. 2 singles by a score of 6-4, 6-1 over Armistead. Delozier rounded out his first collegiate match with a 6-7, 6-0, 11-9 victory over Washington at No. 5 singles.
 
   Milligan returns to action on Friday, Sept. 13, as they travel to Mars Hill College. Match time in Mars Hill, N.C., is set for 1 p.m.
