Buffaloes men's soccer falls at St. Andrews

Laurinburg, N.C. (Sept. 17, 2013) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team came up short in double-overtime on Tuesday afternoon as they fell 2-1 to St. Andrews University in Appalachian Athletic Conference action in Laurinburg, N.C.
 
   Milligan saw early shots go wide of the net as neither team was able to score in the opening minutes. The Knights recorded the first goal of the game in the 32nd minute, and held a 1-0 lead at the half.
 
   In the second half, the Buffaloes continued to attack. Lewis Grant (Edinburgh, Scotland) put the Buffaloes on the board in the 68th minute when he scored off a free kick. Neither team was able to break the tie before the end of regulation. After a scoreless first overtime, St. Andrews scored the game winner in the 104th minute.
 
   Defensively, Dan Ball (Chatham, England) recorded one save in a complete game effort. As a team, the Buffaloes outshot the Knights 28-8 with St. Andrews recording 18 saves.
 
   With the loss, Milligan falls to 1-2 in conference play and 1-5 overall.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, as they host Point University in AAC action. Match time at Anglin Field is set for 6:30 p.m.
