Milligan men's soccer blast Skyhawks

Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 21, 2013) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team used a strong second half to pull away and take a 6-1 victory over Point University in Appalachian Athletic Conference on Saturday at Anglin Field.
 
   The Buffaloes were unable to connect on early shots until Andre Ottoni (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) scored on a free kick in the 20th minute. Milligan was unable to add to their lead as they took a 1-0 lead into the half.
 
   In the second half, the Buffaloes struck quickly as Ottoni scored his second goal of the game on a free kick. Ryan Reilly (Maryville, Tenn.) extended the Milligan lead to 3-0 off of a Nimely Robertson (Johnson City, Tenn.) assist in the 55th minute, while Anthony Matekenya (Harare, Zimbabwe) scored off a Robertson assist in the 57th minute to push the Milligan lead to 4-0.
 
   The Buffaloes continued to control the game as Robertson scored in the box in the 65th minute. Milligan capped the scoring in the 80th minute with a Jonathon Watson (Johnson City, Tenn.) goal.
 
   Defensively, Dan Ball (Chatham, England) recorded two saves, and the Milligan defense limited Point to four shots in the game.
 
   With the win, the Buffaloes improve to 2-5 on the season and 2-2 in AAC action.
 
   Milligan returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 24, as they travel to Reinhardt University for an AAC clash. Match time in Waleska, Ga., is set for 4 p.m.
