Buffaloes men's soccer falls at Union

Barbourville, Ky. (Sept. 28, 2013) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team was unable to answer a late goal as they fell 2-1 to Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Union (Ky.) College on Saturday in Barbourville, Ky.
 
   The Buffaloes jumped out to an early lead as Ryan Reilly (Maryville, Tenn.) scored off an assist from Anthony Matekenya (Harare, Zimbawe) in the 15th minute. Union answered to tie the game at 1-1 in the 27th minute with an Erik Holmqvist goal. Neither team could score in the remainder of the half as the teams remained tied at 1-1.
 
   In the second half, the Buffaloes were unable to score on shots from Jonathon Colson (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Reilly. The Bulldogs took their first lead of the game in the 77th minute when Thomas Galan scored off of an assist of Alex Smith. Milligan was unable even the score before time expired.
 
  Defensively, Dan Ball (Chatham, England) tallied five saves in the match.
 
   Milligan falls to 2-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
 
   The Buffaloes return to action as they travel to Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tenn., on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
