Buffaloes men's soccer falls at SWU

Central, S.C. (Sept. 7, 2013) --- The Milligan College men's soccer team came up short on Saturday night as they fell 2-1 to nonconference foe Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C.
 
   In the first half, Southern Wesleyan jumped out to an early lead as Bruno Liozzo scored in the third minute of the game. Andre Ottoni (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Bruce Olivier (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Lucas Maia (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) registered shots for the Buffaloes over the next 15 minutes, but they were saved by the Warriors' Ruben Rodriguez as Milligan trailed 1-0 at the break.
 
   The Warriors extended their lead in the 62nd minute with a Joao Oliveria goal. Ottoni took full advantage of a penalty kick for the Buffaloes as he scored his first goal of the season in the 82nd minute. However, the Buffaloes were unable to tie the game in the final minutes of the game to force overtime.
 
   Defensively, Dan Ball (Chatham, England) registered two saves.
 
   Milligan falls to 1-3 on the season.
 
   The Buffaloes return to Appalachian Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, Sept. 11, as they travel to Montreat College. Match time is set for 5 p.m., in Montreat, N.C.
