ST. CATHARINE, Ky. (Dec. 1, 2014) â€" A second-half rally was not enough as the Milligan College women's basketball team fell to St. Catharine College 94-87 on Monday evening.

Milligan fell to 1-8 overall (1-4 Appalachian Athletic Conference) and finished up a three-game road trip. St. Catharine improved to 3-6, breaking a five-game losing streak which started in early November, after the Lady Patriots beat the Buffs 59-54 at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

After trading the lead back and forth early on, St. Catharine captured and extended its lead up to 14 points in the first half, but the Buffaloes battled back to nine as they went to the locker rooms at half time, 45-36.

Nine straight points from the Buffs opened the second half, resulting from two big steals from
Kelly Barnett and
Chelsey Weddle, tying the game at 45-45. Milligan took the lead a couple minutes later, but despite keeping the game within four points until 10 minutes were left, a 3-pointer from Kayla Wilson put the Patriots up by seven, boosting them to their eventual 94-87 win.

Hayley Wyrick and
Allison Jones both scored over 20 points for the Buffs with 25 and 22 respectively, with Jones adding five rebounds and two assists. Weddle knocked down 16 points with four rebounds and a steal, and
Lindsee Price led the team with six rebounds.

Milligan returns home on Wednesday, Dec. 3 to take on conference opponent Truett-McConnell College at 5:30 p.m. in a doubleheader with the men's basketball team, who will take on the Bears at 7:30 p.m.
