MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 8, 2014) â€" Milligan College men's basketball made swift work of second-place Bryan College Saturday night in front of its home crowd, beating the Lions 88-65.

Milligan, winners of seven of its last eight, improved to 15-8 (9-6 AAC), one game out of second place in the league. Bryan fell to fourth place in AAC standings with a record of 14-11 (9-5 AAC).

Saturday's game was all Buffaloes from the get-go. Milligan scored the first 10 points of the game, in a two and a half minute span, and led by 20 (36-16) just past the midway point of the first half. The Buffs extended their lead to as many as 29 before the break.

Three Buffaloes were in double figures through the first 20 minutes, including
Mickey Woods who scored 15 points and
Kurt Brooks and
Morgan McLeod who had 12 apiece. By the end of the night, all five Milligan starters were into double digits.

Woods led all scorers with 21 points.
Torian Sitton had 17.

Bryan's Brandon Cole scored 19 points and registered a game-high 14 rebounds.

Milligan guard
Cartree Pettis chipped in 10 points, eight assists and five steals.

In the second half, Milligan continued to pour it on, going up by as many as 35 and keeping a comfortable lead of 28+ until the closing minutes.

Milligan will get second-place Reinhardt (12-11, 9-4 AAC) on the road Wednesday, Feb. 12 before returning to the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse for the final home game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 15 against Virginia Intermont. A women's game and the senior-day ceremony will precede next Saturday's 4 p.m. game.
