MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (March 9, 2014) â€" Despite keeping the game close through the first eight innings, the Milligan College baseball team lost to Union College 15-1 in the deciding series finale Sunday at Anglin Field.

Milligan (6-8, 2-4 AAC) trailed by four heading into the bottom of the seventh before giving up 10 runs on eight hits and two errors in the ninth. Union (15-6, 5-1 AAC) batted around its order almost twice in the inning and received hits by seven different players.

Starting pitcher
Tyler Wilson (1-2) suffered the loss although he trailed only 4-1 when he exited after the fourth. Wilson gave up only three hits while striking out five but started to come undone in the fourth when, with two out and the bases clear, he walked three, hit one, and gave up a base hit. Two of his walks were issued with the bases loaded.

Union starter Casey Whittle received the win. He lasted five innings and allowed four hits, two walks and an earned run while striking out four.

Luke Kirk drove in Milligan's only run in the contest by smacking a two-out double to left-center field to tie the game in the third. Union responded by putting three runs up in the fourth to go back on top.

Milligan will host OSU Mansfield Tuesday and Wednesday, March 11-12 in a pair of doubleheaders at Anglin Field. Tuesday's games start at 4 p.m. Wednesday's start at 12 p.m.
