Reinhardt Box Score | Point Box ScoreCANTON, Ga. (April 5, 2014) â€" One of the longest days of the regular season saw the Milligan College men's tennis team beat Point University 5-4 but fall to Reinhardt University 6-3 on Saturday.
ÂÂ
Milligan (8-9, 2-3 AAC) finished the regular season in fourth place in league standings.
ÂÂ
In the morning match against Point University, Milligan started off slow, winning only one of the doubles points and needing several big shots from
Colin Bumann and
Matias Yanez to secure the one doubles victory, 9-8. The Buffaloes then went to work in singles as Bumann,
Fernando Gonzalez,
Jackson Lenoir and
Caleb Friddell posted victories to secure the come-from-behind win. Friddell's 6-4, 6-1 triumph on court six was the clinching point.
ÂÂ
Following a two-hour drive from Valley, Ala., to Canton, Ga., for the Reinhardt match, the Buffaloes again suffered from a slow start in doubles but didn't have the legs for the same comeback like they did against Point. Of the four singles matches that stretched to a third set, only Bumann (2-6, 7-6, 6-1 at three singles) was victorious for Milligan.
ÂÂ
Milligan will return to Georgia next Friday-Saturday, April 11-12 for the AAC conference tournament. Information on matchups and start times will be available next week.
