Kaseke strikes twice, men's soccer downs Bryan

DAYTON, Tenn. (Sept. 27, 2014) â€" Tapiwa Kaseke scored his team-leading fourth and fifth goals of the season to lead the Milligan College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Bryan College Saturday night.

Milligan snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 3-3-2 (1-2 Appalachian Athletic Conference). Bryan, which was fresh off a 1-1 draw against No. 1 Martin Methodist its last time out, dropped to 3-4-2 (0-2 AAC).

Kaseke scored the first goal in the fourth minute, marking the sixth time this season Milligan has found the back of the net within the first 10 minutes of action. Lewis Grant had the assist as his corner kick found Kaseke's head at the far post for the early lead. It was Milligan's second straight goal to be scored on a set play as a Grant free kick also assisted Bruce Olivier's late goal in the Tusculum match earlier this week.

Kaseke doubled the lead with the match-winner in the 29th minute on a goal assisted by Lucas Maia, helping Milligan withstand a second-half barrage by the Lions. With under 15 minutes to play in regulation, Bryan's Paul Liba cut the lead in half with a strike from inside the penalty area, and the Lions followed with four more shots in Milligan goalkeeper Dan Ball's direction in the final 11 minutes.

Ball made eight saves, including a diving effort on the last one, a shot which would have tied the game at 2-2 with less than three minutes left.

Bryan took 20 shots to Milligan's 14 in the contest. The Lions had nine on frame while the Buffaloes had four on frame.

Milligan will be back home on Wednesday, Oct. 1 for a nonconference matchup with Southern Wesleyan University at 7 p.m. AAC action will then start back up for the Buffs next Saturday against Bluefield on the road.
