MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 6, 2014) â€" Milligan College's volleyball team was defeated in the final matches of the Faulkner Invitational on Saturday afternoon, leaving them winless for the weekend.

Milligan will enter conference play next week with an overall record of 4-6, having lost to Freed-Hardeman University 3-1 (25-23, 25-18, 25-27, 25-22) and Webber International University 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-15).

The Buffaloes started the day against Freed-Hardeman University but were unable to stop the Lions. Moving into a quick lead, the Lions started the series with two wins (25-23, 25-18). The Buffs would battle back in game three, taking the win 27-25 with the scoring power of
Marissa Langford and
Bailey Thomas. Langford registered 15 kills in the match, and Thomas recorded 12 of her own.

However, this would not be enough to stop the Lions, as they took game four, 25-22.

Though the Buffs would fight hard, their fate would be the same against their second opponent, the Webber International University Warriors. The Warriors were able to battle past the defense of
Kaitlyn Round and
Samantha Bruinius, who recorded 16 and 14 digs, respectively.

The Buffs return home to face Union College in their first conference game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 13. Game time is 11 a.m., and the game will be live streamed for those unable to attend.
