Volleyball runs away with fifth set at Tennessee Wesleyan

ATHENS, Tenn. (Oct. 9, 2015) â€" Emilee Linkous, Marissa Langford and Samantha Bruinius combined for 10 kills in the deciding set, and the Milligan College volleyball team won another five-setter Friday night. Langford tallied three of hers in a row at the end of the match as the Buffaloes defeated Tennessee Wesleyan College 3-2 (24-26, 25-15, 25-22, 21-25, 15-7) in the teams' second Appalachian Athletic Conference meeting of the season.
 
Milligan (11-8, 7-3 AAC) completed the season sweep after beating Tennessee Wesleyan (7-10, 5-5 AAC) in three sets at home on Sept. 1.
 
Linkous recorded 14 kills in the match, four in the final set, and added three digs and a pair of blocks. Langford had 12 kills with 10 digs, and Bruinius had 10 kills with 23 digs. The trio earned kills on the first three points of the final set to put Milligan into the lead, and the Buffs finished with an 8-2 run, featuring a kill from Bruinius, three straight kills from Langford and a Jessica Davenport service ace on the last point.
 
Milligan will turn right back around for a tri-match at Bryan (14-11, 9-2 AAC) on Saturday, Oct. 10. The day will feature the Buffs twice as they face Bryan at 11 a.m. and nonconference opponent University of the Cumberlands at 1 p.m. Milligan will be back home on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. with the basketball teams' annual Moonlight Madness event to follow.
