Jessica Davenport's strong senior season has culminated with the Appalachian Athletic Conference Setter of the Year award. Fellow senior and middle hitter
Emilee Linkous joined Davenport on the AAC All-Conference first team, while sophomore outside hitter
Marissa Langford was named to the All-Conference second team, announced the league Wednesday evening at the annual awards banquet.

Charlie Bateman, Benton,
Samantha Bruinius,
Jadin Foster,
Jenna Headrick, Langford and
Grace Ann Moorhouse received All-Academic honors.

Davenport, who has been named all-conference each of the last three seasons and has now been All-Conference first team two seasons in a row, was a four-time AAC Setter of the Week this season, winning it twice in the first two weeks and three times in the first five weeks. She recorded 1,169 assists on the season for a 9.34 average per set, which was good for second and third in the conference in the two categories, respectively.

On Sept. 22 at Bluefield College, Davenport surpassed the 3,000 career assist mark with a career-high 57 assists. She now has 3,713 career assists, ranking in the top three in Milligan volleyball history. Chelsea Spivey (4,279) set the record during Davenport's freshman season in 2012.

Davenport also ranked seventh in the AAC and first on the team with 35 service aces.

Linkous finished first in the AAC in hitting percentage at .280, second in blocks, sixth in total kills and 10th in kills per set (2.52). She set her career high in kills with 17 this season against Truett-McConnell College on Oct. 24, doing so on 34 attack attempts with only one error.

Langford led the Buffaloes with 324 kills. Linkous was third with 313 and first on the team in blocks with 70.5. Langford was named the AAC attacker of the week on Sept. 28, the same week Davenport won her third award of the season, and finished the regular season fourth in the conference in total kills, sixth in kills per set (2.61) and ninth in hitting percentage (.206).

Langford, who was named All-Conference first team as a freshman last season, also set her career high in kills this season with 20, during the same match Davenport reached 3,000 career assists and set her career high.

Lastly, Davenport (10) and Langford (4) were second and third on the team in double-doubles.

To be eligible for the academic award, each individual must maintain a grade-point average of 3.25 or higher and must have sophomore or higher academic standing.ÂÂ
