Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer suffers tough road loss

ATHENS, Tenn. (Oct. 18, 2016) â€" Milligan College's women's soccer team traveled to Athens, Tennessee, to take on Appalachian Athletic Conference rival Tennessee Wesleyan University. Despite a first half goal and leading at the half, the Buffaloes surrendered two second half goals and lost their second straight conference game 2-1.

Milligan (7-8, 3-6 AAC) broke the scoreless streak in the closing minutes of the first half when junior Sami Joy scored off of a corner kick from Keri Harrison. The goal was Joy's third of the year and Harrison's third assist of the year.

Tennessee Wesleyan responded early in the second half with two goals in two minutes and never gave up the lead, resulting in a 2-1 victory.

The stats suggest the game was as even as the score says. Both teams reached double digits for shots, with the Bulldogs leading 13-12. Both goalkeepers played at a high level, with Charlotte Stephens and Bulldog keeper McKenna Loges both saving seven goals.

The Buffaloes close out the season with their alumni game at Anglin Field on Saturday and then one last regular season game at Truett-McConnell next Monday.
