MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Oct. 21, 2016) â€" After honoring six seniors as part of the senior day celebration, the Milligan College men's soccer team brought home a 7-1 win over Hiwassee College Friday night during homecoming weekend.
ÂÂ
Seniors
Zana Ali,
Matthew Lamb,
Collin Prusak,
Ryan Reilly,
Nathan Sloan and
Thomas Suits all played their last regular-season home game of their Buffalo careers as Milligan improved to 6-9 (2-6 AAC).
ÂÂ
Milligan opened the scoring in just the fourth minute when
Jesse Ramoya found
Jack Allan cutting through the penalty area, and Allan finished from close range to make it 1-0. Ramoya would be a part of two more goals in the first half, and Allan would score his second of the contest in the 29th minute to make it 4-0. Milligan led by that score at the half, having outshot the visiting Tigers 15-2 in the first 45 minutes.
ÂÂ
Allan's second goal was also assisted by Ramoya and marked the third goal for Milligan in a span of less than six minutes. The stretch helped Milligan effectively put the game away late in the first half.
ÂÂ
In the second half, Prusak found the back of the net to get the scoring going again. He made it 5-0, and Milligan added two more goals, from
Josh Willard and
Tunde Akinrinmade, to close the books on the final regular-season home game of the season.
ÂÂ
Milligan outshot Hiwassee 38-6 in the victory, including 17-4 on shots on goals.
ÂÂ
Milligan has one more game left this season, and playoff implications will be on the line. The Buffs currently rank seventh in the AAC and will face sixth-place Truett-McConnell University on the road on Tuesday, Oct. 25. The conference tournament is set to begin Nov. 5 with the possibility of a play-in game set for Nov. 1.
