Career highs lead Buffs to win at Truett

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Oct. 25, 2016) â€" Grace Ann Moorhouse and Samantha Bruinius earned career highs in digs and Marissa Langford matched her career high in kills to help give the Milligan College volleyball team a five-set, 25-18, 25-21, 20-25, 15-25, 15-11, victory at Truett-McConnell University Tuesday night in an Appalachian Athletic Conference contest.

Moorhouse and Bruinius had 49 and 31 digs, respectively, as Milligan won its seventh match, improved to 26-6 (15-2 AAC), and kept pace at a game back (two in the win column) of conference leader Union College. Langford led all players in the kill column with 20, marking her 10th consecutive match reaching double digits in kills.

Milligan led most of the way through the first two sets and created a two-game lead only to see Truett (12-16, 6-13 AAC) fight back to force a fifth. Milligan then took the first three points of the fifth on the way to winning 10 of the first 14. During that stretch, Langford had three kills and Alora Ricker had two. The match was finished off by a Julie Dockery kill, assisted by one of freshman Kellee Geren's 51 assists of the night.

On top of her 31 digs, Bruinius also registered 13 kills, while Charlie Bateman had seven kills. Jadin Foster reached 11 digs and Geren had 14 digs.

Milligan's season will continue on Saturday, Oct. 29, when the Buffs host a trimatch against Point University and Montreat College. The team's seniors will be recognized prior to the first match at 11 a.m. as Milligan closes out the home season then.
