Late goal ends women's soccer's season

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Nov. 1, 2016) â€" Milligan College's women's soccer team hosted Truett-McConnell Tuesday night in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament opening round. The No.8 seeded Buffs were narrowly defeated by the No.9 seeded Bears 1-0.
 
Milligan (8-9, 4-6 AAC) had a strong showing from senior goalkeeper Charlotte Stephens throughout the game. The Grays, England, native saved three first half shots and kept the Buffaloes in the game.
 
The Bears outshot the Buffaloes 6-3 in the first half, but the game was scoreless at the half.
 
Milligan was able to create more chances in the second half, but could not take advantage. The Buffaloes outshot the Bears 8-5 in the second half.
 
With 14:38 left in the game, Truett-McConnell's Carson Batye was able to punch it in from close range and scored the only goal of the game.
 
The Buffaloes finished the season with a record of 8-9 and with many freshman and sophomore starters, will look to move up next season.
