Sarah Robinson scored a late bucket and
Kelly Barnett made clutch free throws in the closing seconds as the No. 24 Milligan College women's basketball team defeated Lourdes University 69-66 Saturday evening at Union College.

The win was Milligan's second straight in as many days and improved the Buffs to 2-2 this season, with the two losses coming at the hands of NAIA Division I nationally ranked opposition. Milligan finished the weekend with a pair of wins inside Robsion Arena, home of Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Union, where the Buffs will play in an AAC matchup on Saturday, Dec. 10.

Milligan and Lourdes were tied with just under two minutes remaining after Robinson made 1-of-2 at the free throw line to make it 61-61. After an exchange of possessions including a made 2-pointer from
Mackenzie Raizor, Robinson then scored to give Milligan the lead for good, 65-63, with a little over a minute left.

Milligan followed with a stop on the next defensive possession, then Barnett converted 2-for-2 from the line on the last two possessions to help seal the win.

Raizor led Milligan with 18 points and seven rebounds while Robinson scored 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting and added nine rebounds.
Hayley Wyrick scored 13, and five other Buffs were in the scoring column. Barnett finished with six to go along with five assists, only one turnover, and a steal.

For Lourdes, Elayna Ackerman led all scorers with 20 points.

Milligan will continue the season with its home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 16, as the Buffs take on AAC opponent Tennessee Wesleyan University. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
