Men's basketball falls to William & Mary in exhibition

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Dec. 16, 2016) â€" On the return trip home from New York, the Milligan College men's basketball team stopped by College of William & Mary for an exhibition game. Freshman Bo Pless led the way with 13 points but Milligan fell 113-59.
 
William and Mary controlled the game from the start, getting the first points on a second-chance basket on the first possession then extending the lead to 21-0 through the first six minutes. Aaron Levarity scored the first of his 11 points to get the Buffs on the board, but Milligan would get no closer than that. William and Mary built the lead up 47-21 before finishing the half on a run similar to the one at the start. Over the last five minutes of the opening frame, William and Mary outscored Milligan 21-2.
 
Milligan fell behind by as many as 53 by the midpoint of the second half on the way to seeing it largest deficit come on the last points of the game.
 
Pless shot 4-of-8 from the field, 3-of-7 from 3-point territory, and added a pair of made free throws. Tyler Nichols scored 12 points off the bench while Levarity scored 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting and made his only 3-point attempt of the game.
 
William and Mary was led by Greg Malinowski, Connor Birchfield and Daniel Dixon who all scored 20 points.
 
Milligan's next game will be in 2017, and the Buffs have a full week featuring three Appalachian Athletic Conference games between Tuesday, Jan. 3, and Saturday, Jan.7. Saturday's game on January 7 will be at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse versus Point University.
