Baseball wins big twice at Brewton-Parker

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. (Feb. 12, 2016) â€" Austin Perry threw a complete game to open a four-game series at Brewton-Parker College, and the Milligan College baseball team took both games of a doubleheader, 11-2 and 12-1, on Friday night.

Milligan (3-3) rattled off 24 hits across the two games, scoring big in the first two innings of the opener and even bigger in the last two innings of the nightcap. Perry shined in game one with four strikeouts over seven innings pitched while freshman Hunter Townsend, sophomore Jacob Littleton and senior Carlos Cueto shared the pitching duties in a combined three-hit effort in game two.

Milligan jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first inning of game one and added four more runs in the second inning to open the series in control. Perry allowed only four hits and two runs (one earned) in the first complete game of his Milligan career.

Townsend earned the start in game two and took the win despite exiting after four innings with only a 1-0 lead. Littleton, who pitched the fifth and sixth, was in in relief when the Buffs posted three runs in the sixth and an eight-spot in the seventh.

Cueto closed things out in the seventh as the trio of Milligan pitchers combined for sixth strikeouts, no walks, three hits and an unearned run.

Milligan and Brewton-Parker will finish the four-game series on Saturday with first pitch of the doubleheader set for 1 p.m. The Buffs will be back home next weekend, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 19-20, for a four-game series against Taylor University.
