Goodson's shutout salvages split for softball

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (April 10, 2016) â€" After the Buffaloes fell 12-4 in game one after a nine-run fourth inning for Montreat College, Jessica Goodson kept the Lady Cavaliers off the scoreboard in game two as she led the Milligan College softball team to a 10-0 victory in six innings Sunday at Roxy Hines Field.

Milligan (21-11 overall, 9-5 AAC), who began the day alone in third place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, won its 10th game in its last 12 meetings with Montreat (7-35, 3-13), who used the game one victory to snap a 10-game losing streak and streak of 10 straight games with less than three runs scored.

Goodson (10-5) pitched all six innings in the nightcap, while Kassi Butcher (5-4) started game one with 3.1 innings of work and Cayley Shoemaker went the final 2.2. The shutout was the second of the season for Goodson and her fifth complete game.
