MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 21, 2016) â€" The Milligan College men's soccer team held a two-goal lead over No. 13 Union College in the second half, but the Buffaloes ultimately fell by a score of 4-3 Wednesday night on Anglin Field.
ÂÂ
Jesse Ramoya,
Zana Ali and
Leonardo Guiaro were the goal scorers for Milligan (3-4, 0-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference), which went on top 1-0 and 3-1 and had that two-goal advantage with under 25 minutes left until Union (7-2, 3-0 AAC) put together the furious rally.
ÂÂ
Ramoya put the Buffs on top early with a goal in just the third minute off a pass from
Jack Allan. Despite surrendering an equalizer on an own-goal less than a minute later, Milligan again took the lead with one from Ali, this one assisted by Ramoya.
ÂÂ
Allan then assisted Leonardo on the Buffs third goal in the 21st minute, but that would be the last one of the night for Milligan. Although the Buffs continued to push the attack and earn numerous chances over the last 69 minutes, Union cut the lead to one in the 66th, evened things back up in the 71st, then won it on a goal by George Carroll in the 81st.
ÂÂ
Milligan was outshot 13-8 in the contest, including 6-5 on shots on goal. Goalkeeper
Nick Smith made three saves.
ÂÂ
Milligan will continue the season with another home game on Saturday, Sept. 24, versus Reinhardt University. The Buffs are scheduled for kickoff at 4 p.m. after the women's game.
