MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Nov. 11, 2017) â€" After battling in four close road games leading up to their home opener, the No. 24 Milligan College women's basketball team avenged an early season loss with a big win by defeating Asbury University 84-67 Saturday afternoon at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

The win improved Milligan to 3-2 and was the team's first game decided by double figures. Asbury, who defeated Milligan 75-68 in Wilmore, Kentucky, earlier this week, fell to 2-2 overall.

MILLIGAN'S LEADERS
Sophomore
Kaely Gose (17 points, five rebounds) and junior
Mackenzie Raizor (16 points, seven rebounds) led Milligan while
Cassidy Anderson added 10 points. The Buffs saw 12 players enter the scoring column, and their bench outscored Asbury's bench 29-8.

Emma Kate Brown had a great game in her home debut with five points and four assists to only one turnover. Milligan was also playing without last year's Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Year,
Sarah Robinson.

BIG SECOND HALF
After scoring the final four points of the first half to take a 34-30 lead at the break, Milligan put up 25 points in each quarter of the second half. This started with the first four points of the third quarter to complete an 8-0 run spanning the intermission, and Milligan put its foot on the gas from there.

The Buffs led by double figures midway through the third quarter after a 3-pointer from Anderson, then went on an 8-0 run early in the fourth quarter to go up by 17. Sisters K. Gose and
Morgan Gose scored baskets on back-to-back possessions during that stretch.

LAST TIME THEY MET
It was last Tuesday and Asbury pulled away late in the fourth quarter for a 75-68 win. Anderson and Raizor led the Buffs with 10 points apiece, and Raizor added 12 rebounds. Asbury finished the game on a 13-4 run.

Saturday's contest saw Kelsey Johnson lead Asbury and all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Two other Eagles made it to double figures as Autumn Herriford scored 18 and Shelby McDonald had 13.

Milligan opens the Appalachian Athletic Conference slate with another home game on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 5:30 p.m. against Truett-McConnell University. Truett was selected to finish 12th in the league per the AAC preseason coaches poll.
