Buffs drop AAC OT game at Reinhardt

WALESKA, Ga. (Nov. 18, 2017) â€" Aaron Levarity led the Milligan College men's basketball team with his third straight double-double in an Appalachian Athletic Conference contest at Reinhardt University on Saturday night. The Buffs battled in their second overtime game already this season. However, unlike the first one, Milligan was defeated by the Eagles, 113-101.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Buffs trailed Reinhardt the whole first 15 minutes of the first half until sophomore Bo Pless hit a 3-pointer and put Milligan up by one. For the rest of the half it was a toe-to-toe race with the score being tied twice. The Buffs' largest lead was by four points but the Eagles fought to minimize the deficit putting Milligan ahead by one point at the half (46-45).

The first 10 minutes was much like the final five minutes of the first half in that it was a tight race. After another Pless 3-pointer, Milligan took off with the lead and maintained the lead until the final four seconds. With four minutes left the Buffs were up by 12 points. Sophomore Daxton Bostian put the Buffs at a three-point lead with a made free throw with 12 seconds remaining. Unfortunately, it proved not enough as Reinhardt's Cody Carden responded draining a 3-pointer with four seconds to go (96-96). Furthermore, Bostian attempted to hit a buzzer beater but missed the 3-point shot.

Bostian made the game winning shot in the overtime game against Truett-McConnell last week.

THE OVERTIME PERIOD
The Buffs were incapable of gaining any kind of a lead in the five minutes of overtime play. The Eagles made three 3-pointers in the first two minutes. Sophomore Desean Green was the only Buff to make a field goal while the other three points scored were off of free throws. Reinhardt used the momentum from the final four seconds of the second half to claim their victory over the Buffs, 113-101.

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Levarity earned 22 points, 15 rebounds and added two blocks. Following was Pless with 15 points while adding seven rebounds. Green and junior Will Buckner had 14 points apiece. Green followed Levarity leading the Buffs with nine rebounds. Bostian led Milligan with five assists. Levarity and Green earned three assists apiece.

The Buffs shot exceptionally well from the 3-point line going 15-of-23.

Reinhardt had three players with 20 points and above. Dwight Sanders had 30, Melvin Irwin had 24 and Cody Carden earned 20.
