ATHENS, Tenn. (Nov. 7, 2017) â€" After putting up a 1-1 draw with Tennessee Wesleyan earlier this season, the Milligan College women's soccer team fell to the number two seed Bulldogs in the semifinals of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament on Tuesday afternoon, 4-0. The Buffs completed their season with a 13-3-3 overall record and a 8-1-2 finish in the conference in comparison to last year's 8-9 overall and 4-6 AAC.
Though the final score read 4-0, Milligan kept the game tight through the first 70 minutes. Tennessee Wesleyan put up the first goal in the 37th minute of the game, but the Buffs battled hard not letting up another goal for the rest of the half.
Milligan continued to fight coming out in the second half with the score still 1-0 until Tennessee Wesleyan's Chloe Rootes found the back of the net in the 70th minute. Furthermore the Bulldogs connected for two more late goals securing their defeat over the Buffs.
Freshman goalkeeper Eva Bower had an impressive nine saves on the day. The Buffs were led by sophomore Alyson McMillan with four shots. McMillan leads the conference along with Truett-McConnell's Megan McCall for assists person game with nine. Fellow sophomore Bekah Cundiff also currently leads the conference alongside Tennessee Wesleyan's Nicole Broderick for most goals with 17.
Though losing four seniors, Milligan will return nine starters in the 2018 season from this year's squad.
