KINGSPORT, Tenn. (Nov. 9, 2017) â€"The Milligan College volleyball team ended their season in the quarterfinals of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Thursday afternoon. The Buffs were defeated by the Union College Bulldogs in three sets (26-24, 25-12, 25-21).
The first set was the tightest race of them all with 16 apiece, 20 apiece, 21 apiece, 23 apiece, and 24 apiece. Milligan denied Union a set point (24-23) with a
Marissa Langford kill but it proved not enough as Union took the game with two kills. The Bulldogs used the momentum to go on to win the first 10 points of the second game and win it 25-12. Milligan came back out in the third set ready to rally. The Buffs trailed all the way to 24-21 until the Bulldogs secured their victory with a kill by Maggie McGraw.
The Buffs were led by All-Conference first team select Langford with 12 kills and senior
Alora Ricker with eight kills. Sophomore
Julie Dockery added five kills while All-Freshman select
Julia Codispoti earned four. Ricker led Milligan with 16 digs alongside All-Conference second team select
Alyssa Rupert who tallied 15 digs. Sophomore
Kellee Geren compiled a total of 23 assists.
Milligan finished the season going 13-16 overall and 9-8 in the AAC.
