Sarah Robinson scored her 1,000th career point with an eight-point, 11-rebound effort, but the Milligan College women's basketball team dropped an Appalachian Athletic Conference game at Point University, 76-63, Saturday afternoon.

The loss moved Milligan (6-7, 3-5 AAC) to 2-7 when playing on the road this season. Conversely, the Buffs are 4-0 with an average margin of victory of 28 points at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Point, which is receiving votes in the latest NAIA top 25 poll, won its fifth straight game to improve to 9-3 (7-1 AAC).

SLOW FIRST HALF
Milligan trailed for all but the opening possession of the game, and a 5-for-5 effort for Point from behind the 3-point line in the first quarter helped the Skyhawks go up by nine at the end of the first 10 minutes, 29-19. Point hit a 3-pointer on the last possession of the opening quarter before using a 16-4 run to open the second quarter. It helped Point build a 21-point advantage by the halftime break.

MILLIGAN'S ANSWER
Highlighted by 3-pointers from
Morgan Gose and Robinson, Milligan fought back with a 14-3 run to open the third quarter.
Mackenzie Raizor finished the run with a 2-pointer with less than four minutes left in the third quarter which made it 49-41 in favor of the Skyhawks.

Three minutes later Milligan had it down to a five-point game when
Kaely Gose found M. Gose for a 3-pointer, and the Buffs trailed 55-50 with 10 minutes left in the game.

Robinson made a bucket on the second possession of the fourth quarter to cut it to three, 55-52, but that was as close as the Buffs would get as Point finished the game on a 21-11 run from there.

LEADERS
M. Gose and K. Gose were the Buffs scoring leaders with 13 and 11, respectively. A total of 10 Buffs entered the scoring column in the loss.

Andi Lamb had a solid game all around, registering eight points, four rebounds and four assists.

For Point, Candace Rhodes was 6-of-10 from 3-point territory and finished with a game high 25 points. The Skyhawks were 21-of-59 (35.6 percent) from the field and 10-of-19 (52.6 percent) from three.

ROBINSON'S CAREER
In two-plus seasons with the Buffs, Robinson has been selected as the AAC Freshman of the Year (2016), AAC Player of the Year (2017) and AAC Defensive Player of the Year (2017), while also collecting All-Conference first team honors each of the last two seasons and an NAIA All-American second team selection last season.

Robinson currently stands at 1,005 career points and 690 career rebounds. With 76 games played, she averages 13.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game for her career.

Milligan has two more games left in the 2017 leg of the season. First up will be a trip to Longwood University for an exhibition game in Farmville, Virginia, on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 11:30 a.m. The Buffs then close out 2017 with a game on Saturday, Dec. 30, at Georgetown College. The next home game is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 2, against Bryan College.
